During my fellowship at Künstlerdorf Schöppingen I have started a long term printmaking project, working with the love letters exchanged between my grandmother and my grandfather between 1947 and 1952. Using mokuhanga technique (water-based woodblock printing) I aim to translate the letters’ text into images.

En la residencia en&#38;nbsp;Künstlerdorf Schöppingen comencé un proyecto a largo plazo de xilografías al agua partiendo de las cartas de amor intercambiadas por mi abuela y mi abuelo entre 1947 y 1952. En un intento de transliteración el texto se convierte en imágenes.

-This event was a typical Prøverommet, full of new artistic experiments from different disciplines, except that it took place in virtual space. Audience members created their own avatars and were able to view and interact with the artworks and each other.&#38;nbsp; 

Gather is an online software that has often been used in educational settings, and comes with the ability to build your own 'spaces'. 

The Prøverommet at Gather space has been built by the artist Lucila Mayol and is loosely based on blueprints and stories heard about the former BIT Teatergarasjen arena in Nøstet, Bergen (including gaps in knowledge and memory). 

The participating artists were: Tine Adler, Taru Kallio, Nico Lillio, Dianne Murphy, and Salla Valle.
The five artists from across the globe,&#38;nbsp;curated by Laurie Lax and Lucila Mayol,  presented a range of projects that embrace the digital realm, including live performance-to-camera, video, and sculpture and virtual reality.

- Casi como cualquier otro evento de Prøverommet, donde encuentran su lugar una diversidad de disciplinas y experimentos artísticos, pero esta vez en un espacio virtual. La audiencia creó sus propios avatares e interactuaron con el arte y entre sí.

Gather es una plataforma online muchas veces utilizada en programas educativos, que permite crear ‘espacios’ propios.
El espacio de Prøverommet en Gather fue creado por Lucila Mayol, basado en las historias recolectadas y los planos arquitectónicos de la primera sede de BIT Teatergarasjen arena en Nøstet, Bergen. Esta reconstrucción incluye y utiliza las lagunas del conocimiento y la memoria acerca de este espacio que ya no existe.

Quienes participaron: Tine Adler, Taru Kallio, Nico Lillio, Dianne Murphy, and Salla Valle.

Archaeological Fiction: Sagfjordbotn invites you to experience sounds and stories from a remote fjord in Nordland. As reflected in the pathways within the narrative, the fjord seems secluded and quiet at first but the more you interact, the more will be unveiled. The soundtrack enables you to spatially locate yourself by listening. 

The narrative is based on experiences of the fjord, combining gossip and oral histories with nature writing and archival research.

How does the land shape the people and how do people shape the land?

AF:S invita a experimentar las historias y los sonidos de fiordo remoto en Noruega. 

Reflejando el modo en el que los caminos se bifurcan en la narrativa, a primera vista el fiordo parece aislado y silencioso, pero cuanto más se interactúa, más se devela. Escuchando atentamente, el sonido permite ubicarse en el espacio.


La narrativa está basada en las experiencias en el fiordo, combinando rumores, historias orales, escritura sobre la naturaleza e investigación de archivo.

Lichtenberg is a large borough in the east of Berlin. It has many trains, especially in the South, where the tracks create an island called Victoriastadt. Lichtenberg Studios is inside the island, on the upper floor of a Wilhelmian building, which sits on top of a museum. The bedroom is inside the studio. From its windows they could see three tracks that lie beyond the tiny garden, separated only by a thin corrugated wall. Inside the train were anonymous passengers unknowingly observed by the two artists stationed at the two windows.
At Lichtenberg Studios, we were invited to explore the eastern borough of Berlin; Lichtenberg. This included our immediate district, Victoriastadt Bezirk (the island), with all the train tracks and stations surrounding it; the Vietnamese neighbourhood centred around Dong Xuan Center; the Friedrichsfelde Central Cemetery, where the socialist burial ground is located; Rummelsburg Memorial, a former prison turned into housing; and a church built somewhere between 1230 and 1450, in the shadow of Hohenschönhausen district’s towering post-war buildings. 
Meanwhile in the centre of Berlin, near Alexanderplatz and Brandenburger Tor, demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine were taking place; among the first permitted by the German government in November 2023. Some of the demos were additionally motivated by increasing censorship, including the cancellation of cultural events and closure of culture centres. People were arrested for the words on their protest banners. Particular words and phrases were banned from one second to the next. This is the climate in which we were visitors. While gaining a sense of history through our wanderings in former East Berlin, we were compelled into the present by participating in the events outside Lichtenberg.


Archaeological Fiction: Lichtenberg is the second project under the title&#38;nbsp;Archaeological Fiction, which brings together our combined interests in field recording, drawing, coding, research, and oral history. We are both operating in the field of writing as an artistic practice, excited by the possibilities that digital technology allows for this. We explore the layers in time that build a collective perception of a place, asking ourselves: How does the land shape the people and how do people shape the land?

"This is bibliomancy: a form of divination that happens in a library space. I made an appendix, opening the notebooks at random and setting my fingertip down. My fingertip was like an “extended periphery” Cha. My fingertip was like an animal, seeing with its delicate, representative snout. This was bibliomancy. A way to make visible something that was “no longer possible to say” - Bhanu Kapil - Ban en banlieue


The Oracle expands&#38;nbsp; the practice of Bibliomancy to a wider online public, like the oracles in antiquity.


The user will type a question in the text field, and the website will display an answer taken at random from a book, which is also taken at random from Project Gutenberg's Library.


In the background, runs a custom made algorithm that picks random sentences from digitized books, based on certain rules, like no Surnames, no numbers, or years in a way that the sentences have no references to context but rather a strange and ambiguous match between the question and the answer.

Bibliomancy is a divination technique where a question is asked to a closed book, then the book is opened at a random page with the eyes closed, and the finger travels through the page to point out a sentence, whose outcome is the answer of the question.

The full length of a shelf –covering Printmaking, Literature and Photography sections– was intervened with a 7 meters long label printed using a labeler machine. The label contained a sentence extracted from the books of the shelf using the Bibliomancy procedure.


The question asked to the books became the name of the piece How to Write What is Already Written, and the answers became the label attached to the shelf. 

The process follows a strict system of rules that determines the aleatory aspects of the text, which ends up building a narrative. One of the rules dictates that the length of a quote in the printed label indicates the next book in the shelf that must be used to answer the question.

La Bibliomancia es una técnica adivinatoria donde se le hace una pregunta a un libro cerrado, luego éste se abre en una página elegida al azar con los ojos cerrados, y un dedo que recorre la página hasta encontrar el punto en el que se abren los ojos y se lee la respuesta obtenida.

El largo total de un estante de la biblioteca de la Facultad de Arte –abarcando las secciones de grabado, literatura y fotografía– fue intervenido con una etiqueta de siete metros de largo impresa con una etiquetadora. La etiqueta fue escrita extrayendo oraciones de algunos libros del estante, utilizando la técnica de la Bibliomancia.


La pregunta realizada a estos libros se convirtió en el título de la pieza ‘¿Cómo escribir lo que ya fue escrito?’, y las respuestas a su vez se convirtieron en la etiqueta pegada al estante.


El proceso sigue un sistema de reglas estrictas que determina la aleatoriedad de los textos, que inevitablemente acaban construyendo una narración. Una de las rulas dictaba que la longitud de la cita impresa en la etiqueta indicaría cuál sería el próximo libro en responder la pregunta.

A research into the Museum for the History of Photography’s archive in Saint Petersburg. We were particularly captivated by a donation that the museum received from a 85 years old Russian woman. In an interview produced by the museum, the lady draws attention to a group of photographs that men and soldiers gave her as mementos.

According to her words, these presents made her realize what kind of woman she is, but when asked, she did not answer.
With the soviet iconic Book of Tasty and Healthy Food, the mnemonic connection falls on us and all the possible pasts that we can secretly desire. Then, new meanings will come to supplant old ones, with the archive serving as a moving structure.

Proyecto de investigación realizado en los archivos del Museo para la Historia de la Fotografía de San Petersburgo. La obra se basó en una donación que el museo recibió de una mujer Rusa de 85 años.

En una entrevista producida por el museo, la mujer llama la atención hacia un grupo de imágenes que hombres y soldados le fueron regalando a lo largo de su vida a modo de mementos.


De acuerdo a sus palabras, estos presentes la hicieron darse cuenta de la “clase de mujer que fui”, pero cuando se le preguntó al respecto, no contestó. Su silencio sentó las bases del proceso alrededor de la idea de lo consciente, explorando como interpretaciones contrastantes pueden construir la subjetividad.


En conflicto con la pre-existencia de las imágenes, combinadas con el icónico libro de cocina “Book of Tasty and Healthy Food”, la conexión mnemónica cae sobre nosotros y todos los posibles pasados que podríamos secretamente desear. Es entonces, cuando los nuevos significados llegan para suplantar a los viejos, mientras que el archivo actúa como una estructura en movimiento.

In Paraná (Argentina), we found two suitcases filled with slide photographs about to become trash. The pictures display a family on vacations, with friends, at Christmas and other celebrations.


Amongst the apparent normality of the images, we found a small group of slides in which ‘the Father’ poses with uniformed men and military armament. 

In the publication General Regulations of the Family that accompanies the performance, each member of the family becomes a member of the crew, and the family becomes the vessel.


The performance is introduced as a Staff Briefing, where the assistants learn each statement in the rules, and every article coincides with a slide from the collection.

En Paraná (Argentina), encontramos dos valijas llenas de diapositivas a punto de convertirse en basura. Las fotografías mostraban una y otra vez la misma familia de vacaciones, con amigos, en Navidad y otras celebraciones.


Entre la aparente normalidad de las fotos, fechadas entre 1970 y 1972, hallamos un pequeño grupo de diapositivas, en las que ‘el Padre’ posa junto a otros hombres uniformados y diferentes armamentos militares.


En la publicación Reglamento General de la Familia &#38;nbsp;que acompaña la performance, cada miembro de esta familia vacacionando representa un miembro de la tripulación, y la familia, la nave. 

La performance se presenta como Reunión de Personal, donde se da a conocer el reglamento punto por punto, y cada artículo es acompañado por una diapositiva de la colección.

Series of drawings composed by using several pieces of paper. The drawings depict&#38;nbsp; entrances to buildings taken from the Street View tool from Google Maps. 


The project started when the OMS declared the COVID-19 pandemic status, as a way to remembering and list in my head all the places I have been into, starting from Bergen, where I live, and expanding to all the buildings I've entered in my life.

Los dibujos están basados en entradas de casas y edificios extraídos de Street View de Google Maps. 


El proyecto comenzó al declararse la pandemia de COVID-19, como una manera de repasar mentalmente todos los lugares en los que alguna vez estuve, empezando por Bergen, donde me encontraba en el momento, y continuando hacia otros lugares más alejados.

-Deriva Finlandia was commissioned by Nordic Art School and NOVIA. We devised a mapping with participants from Kokkola and Jakobstad, we would share each town's jewels with the participants from the other town, and vice versa. The walks centered around favorite and weird places which had a particular relation to each participant. Exploring the territory and rewriting the stories of the places through the interaction with the location and between them.
